How secure are my assets?
At Valora, we understand that security is a top priority for our users. Valora’s self-custodial nature means that you are the only one who has control over your wallet and assets. Your Recovery Phrase and PIN provide you with complete control over your wallet address, and neither Valora nor any third-party store this information, ensuring that your wallet is secure.
It's important to note that your Recovery Phrase is the only way to access your wallet address, so make sure to store it securely as soon as you create an address or before transferring funds to Valora. You should save your Recovery Phrase separately from your device and Valora app.
Your PIN provides an extra layer of security, which you must set up during onboarding and each time you restore your address. Remember, your PIN is required to view your Recovery Phrase, change your PIN, and make or sign transactions.
How secure is my personal information?
We take the security of your personal information seriously. We do not store any personal identifiable information. If you have connected your phone number, this is encrypted into an irreversible hash before being stored in our database. When a phone number is used to send transactions, only the encrypted value is used in the network request. This way, your phone number is protected from potential breaches or unauthorized access.
You have the option to sync your contacts list so you can easily send funds to your friends using their phone numbers. When you sync your contacts, you are allowing Valora to read directly from your phone. This information is not saved by Valora on any of our databases.
Similarly, Valora encrypts and stores your photo and name entirely on your mobile device. Uninstalling the app automatically deletes this information, which will not be carried over when you restore your address.
Finally, any personal information collected while communicating with our teams can be expunged by contacting support and requesting the deletion of your information.
For additional security, you can access more security features in Valora’s Settings menu, such as requiring a PIN when opening the app or using biometrics instead of a PIN.
